This year, the members of the Delta Omicron Delta Nu chapter decided to help Cupid pull at people's heart strings this Valentine's Day by sending Valograms. As a fundraiser to help fund our chapter's delegate to the Triennial Conference, we allowed students, faculty, and staff to purchase a singing gram by our members to their friends, loved ones, or professors. We successfully serenaded them throughout the day at various locations throughout campus and enjoyed it thoroughly. As our first year attempting this feat, it was a big success. We earned $163 and recieved requests to return again next year! Here's hoping next year will be just as great :).
This year Delta Omicron sponsored our Fourth Annual Art's Festival! A raffle was held to raise money for Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation. Musical performances included groups from Southwestern, as well as Georgetown HS soloists & ensembles, Tippit Middle School Choir, and Williams Elementary School Percussion Ensemble. Many arts & crafts booths were set up by organizations on campus, as well as yoga classes, taught by Linda Ward, and Zumba, instructed by a DO alumni, Taryn Stafford. We also welcomed Donna Ingham, a story teller, and the Composer's Collective of SU. This year's Arts Festivals was one of the largest so far, which we thank the 2010-2011 Director of Musical Activities, Natalie Phillips-Perkoff, Anne Fenley, the co-director, as well as all of Delta Omicron and the many organizations for all of their hard work! Photos below by Will Hardy Congratulations on Delta Omicron's great performances during Homecoming week 2011! With the theme of "Southwestern on the Silver Screen", we placed 3rd in the parade with an exceptional crowd pleasing performance. We also gave a valiant effort in the Capture the Cup tournament and put on a great musical performance for SING!
This year, Southwestern's Homecoming theme was "Back To The Future." After an awesome performance at SING!, the Delta Omicron members put together a great parade skit. They sang "Listen to the Music" by the Doobie Brothers and blew away the judges. The performance was awarded first place and a check for our fraternity.
Great job to all of the hard working members of Delta Omicron, keep it up! Welcome to the Delta Nu news blog! Here we will keep you updated in what we're doing, what we've done, and what's going on in our chapter!
